Mountains of Northern Vietnam, edging Chinese border, were already much appreciated by French colonists, who spent their holiday under fresh Northern climate, when heat became oppressive in the lower lands. Un train line was drawn and Sapa Valley knew a swift development

Since the opening of the region to international tourism, beginning of the 90’s, infrastructures never stopped bettering. Nowadays, Sapa attracts numerous tourists from all over the world, who go there to participate to hikes, discover the way of like of natives and enjoy majestic landscapes

Nowadays, those travelling to Sapa mostly use the night train, departing from Hanoi. Visitors arrive early morning in Lao Cai and continue by road to Sapa. One night on the spot and two nights on the train are the shortest stay to see something of the region

One can observe superb terrace rice fields, which are here merely spectacular. One can also admire beautiful mountains culminating at 1700 meters and the ocean of clouds, when invading the whole valley. The main ethnic groups one can observe there are Black Hmongs, Giay and Red Daos.

Day 1 Hanoi – Lao Cai

Evening (around 20h00)

Pick-up by your English speaking guide at the reception of your hotel – Transfer by private a/c vehicle towards Hanoi Railway Station – Embark on the Orient Express night train (berths cabin) – Journey to Lao Cai (without guide on board)

Accommodation on board (sharing 4 berths cabin)

Day 2 Lao Cai - Sapa

Meals: B / L / -

Pick-up at Lao Cai Railway station and private vehicle transfer to Sapa – Arrival at your hotel – Check-in

Breakfast served at your hotel

Morning:

Departure for the first hike towards Cau May – You pass over the Muong River and continue towards the Hmong village of Lao Chai – You continue towards a village of ethnic group Giay – Main point of this morning are superb terrace rice fields

Lunch served in a local restaurant

Afternoon:

Resume the hike passing through a forest of giant bamboo trees – You will discover a village of Red Dao ethnic group – Stop and relax at a waterfall – Continue towards the place where your vehicle awaits you – Transfer back to your hotel

Overnight at the Sapa Legend Hotel – Superior room

Day 3 Sapa - Lao Cai - Hanoi

Breakfast served at your hotel.

Morning :

Departure for a 2^nd hike in direction of Cat Cat, where landscapes are amazingly beautiful – Continue the hike through rice fields next to the tropical forest of the Hoang Lien National Park – Visit a village of Hmong ethnic group – Back to Sapa – Check-out.

Afternoon:

Visit Ham Rong Mountain and the superb Ocean of Clouds – Transfer back to Lao Cai by private a/c vehicle – Embark on the Orient Express night train (berths cabin) – Journey to Hanoi (without guide on board)

Day 4 Hanoi

Arrival in Hanoi Railway station – Pick-up by your English speaking guide and transfer by private a/c vehicle to your hotel in downtown Hanoi or at the airport
