‘NAKHON RACHASSIMA’: (Usually nicknamed ‘Khorat’) is the second city of the country. The whole province (as well as the neighboring ones), hide treasures of architecture. Effectively, the mighty Khmer empire of ‘Angkor’ was far bigger than the actual Cambodia. Many temples were built in Cambodia, but also in Thailand. Though some temples can be visited in Kanchanaburi, Lopburi or Petchburi, most of them are located in ‘Isaan’ region.
 
What remains from these temples is mostly ruins, or even worse, only stones heaps. Nevertheless, few temples are pretty well conserved and even worthy of comparison with some temples from the famous ‘Angkor’ compound. Thai Khmer temples are mainly located in Ubon Rachatani, Sisaket or Buriram provinces, or close to Khorat town.
 
NSTRAVEL brings real amateurs of History on the tracks of this lost empire. During the stay, you will discover life of locals, history, handicraft and Isaan food. It is a trip to one of the must unknown regions of Thailand.
 

 

 

PROGRAM

DAY: 1 (Departure everyday)

Meals: DINNER
- 09:00: Pick-up by English speaking guide in your hotel in Bangkok (Downtown) and departure by air conditioned vehicle to Nakhon Rachassima. 
- 12:00: (approximately) Arrival in your hotel in Nakhon Rachassima – Check in at your hotel.
- 12:30: (approximately) Departure for the Phimai Historical Park (a lunch can be organized by your guide - optional and not included).
- 13:30 Visit the Prasart ‘M Phimai – Visit the Phimai National Museum and the biggest banyan tree in Thailand
- 17:00: (approximately) Way back to the hotel – Relax – Dinner – Overnight
 

DAY 2 

MEALS: BREAKFAST / DINNER
Hearty breakfast in the hotel. 
- 09:00: Your guide will pick you up at the lobby of the hotel and will escort you to the next province (Buriram). You will stop at the historical site of Phanom Rung, probably the most beautiful Khmer temple in Thailand with a superb ceremonial alley and a majestic stair. 
After that, you will go to ‘Prasart Muang Tam’. This little and isolated temple features beautiful lotus flowered ceremonial ponds and warm colored stones (a lunch can be organized by your guide - optional and not included).
- 14:00: (approximately) Journey back to your hotel. On the way back, you will stop in a village completely dedicated to pottery. You will have a glimpse on the process of making pottery in this ‘village factory’
- 17:00 (approximately) Arrival at your hotel - End of the afternoon at leisure. You can enjoy the swimming pool - Dinner – Overnight.
 

DAY 3 

MEALS: BREAKFAST
Hearty breakfast in the hotel. 
- 09:00: Departure for short sightseeing in downtown Khorat, you will stop at the old walls and doors of the city – Journey back to Bangkok. 
- 10:30: (approximately) journey back to Bangkok – Arrival foreseen around 13:30 – Drop off at your hotel downtown - End of program
