CHIANGRAI, HOME OF ETHNIC MINORITIES

Enjoy this HALF DAY TOUR from CHIANG RAI to the villages of ETHNIC MINORITIES nearby. CHIANG RAI shelters many ethnic minorities living according to their own traditions… Younger generations speak Thai since they go to school, but elders keep using their own dialect which is originally from China, Burma, etc. Some of these minorities have converted to Catholicism, Buddhism or remained animists. Most of the elders still wear their traditional colorful and superb clothes, but the youngest generations use rather western clothes, even though at home, nothing has changed for them and they keep living like ancestors During this excursion you will go to some of these hidden villages, where no tourists, or very few, use to go… You will see how these minorities live. You will interact with them through you guide. You will namely go to Akkha, Yao and Lahu villages. [We don’t include any visit to a long neck womens’ village since the only genuine tribe of this ethnic has settled down in the region of Mae Hong Son.
