This 3 day CRUISE brings you from CHIANG RAI to LUANG PRABANG in LAOS and is a great addition for your HOLIDAY in THAILAND.

The GOLDEN TRIANGLE is an exceptional gateway to East MYANMAR, Northern LAOS and South of China. Most of the tourists ignore the superb excursions possible from this region and do wrongly believe it is one of the less interesting parts of THAILAND.
 
Nevertheless, the whole region is culturally rich. Chiangsaen features ruins of an old historical past. Chiangrai hosts a genuine colorful market where ethnic minorities flock to sell the production of their land.
 
The superb mountains of the Golden Triangle shelter Mae Salong and the tea plantations, the gorgeous ‘Doi Tung’ botanical garden and Sop Ruak shelters the unique ‘Ho Fin’: interactive museum fully dedicated to opium: http://www.goldentrianglepark.org
 
But the Golden Triangle is of course bordered by the mighty Mekong River. Born somewhere close to eastern Tibet, it runs down through China, along Myanmar and Thailand, in Laos, Cambodia and ends in Vietnam.
 
You will board on a unique river cruise in South East Asia. You will admire superb landscapes, unspoiled and pristine nature on both banks of the river, animated by wild and mighty rapids. An overnight in the little Pakbeng hamlet and a stopover at the Pak-Ou mystical cave will complete this unforgettable journey.
 
The Mekong River, snaking down all through South East Asia, will become the ‘Royal Way’ of a fabulous journey to the old royal city of Luang Prabang.
 

PROGRAM

DAY 1: (Daily departure)

MEALS: /
- Pick-up at Chiangrai airport – Transfer to your hotel – Arrival at hotel – Check in.
- Evening at leisure – Overnight
 

DAY 2:

MEALS: Breakfast /Lunch / Dinner
- 06.00: Early breakfast at the hotel – Departure with your English speaking guide by air conditioned vehicle to Chiangkhong (Thai bank of the Mekong) - Formalities at the border – Transfer by long tailed boat to the Laotian bank – Arrival at Houay Say – Formalities to enter Laotian territory – Transfer to ‘Luang Say’ – Check in and welcome onboard. 
- 09.00: Departure of the cruise down to Pakbeng
All along this first cruise day, you will admire absolutely unique landscape, made of mountains covered by jungle. You will stop in a village where you will discover humble and friendly local farmers – Lunch served on board – Cruise down to Pakbeng. 
- 17.00: (approximately) Arrival at Pakbeng – Transfer to the ‘Luang Say Lodge’- Check in and welcome – Dinner served on the terrace overhanging the river – Overnight.
 

DAY 3:

MEALS: Breakfast /Lunch
- 06.30: Breakfast served at the lodge – Optional walking to the hamlet of Pakbeng to discover to local little market.
- 08.30: Departure of the cruise towards Luang Prabang
You will stop at a little hill tribe village famed in the region for the local rice alcohol inhabitants make –
 
You will see the process and will even taste it or buy it – Back on board for lunch – Cruise down towards Pak-Ou cave – Arrival at Pak-Ou known as the ‘Cave of the Thousand Buddhas’ – Halt for visit – Back on board for the short journey down to Luang Prabang.
- 17.00: (approximately) Arrival at Luang Prabang – End of the program.
