IN A ‘GREEN FURROW’ FROM TRAD TO CHANG ISLAND

This 5 days program starting from BANGKOK will lead you to KOH CHANG. It is ideal for a COMMUNITY BASED HOLIDAY in THAILAND.

The KOH CHANG Archipelago [At the boundaries of Cambodia] is a patch of paradise, unique green spot in THAILAND but still widely unknown in Western countries. KOH CHANG doesn’t lend itself easily to mass tourists, due to its topography. The relief of the main Island is rather mountainous, so that coaches cannot access its sinuous twisty roads. The closest airport is on the main land and reaching KOH CHANG thus means that one must come inevitably by car and ferry, and must drive on the narrow mountain road up, before getting down on the other side and finally reach the tropical beaches.

If the main Island and all the more, the almost virgin tropical islands offshore are preserved from mass tourism, they are also protected by self awareness from the local population as well as they profit from concrete actions organized namely by the local office of T.A.T. (Tourism Authority of Thailand). A local project launched by the GTZ (Organization emanated from the Federal Ministry of Development of Germany) and in collaboration with DASTA, BMU and ICI is one of the driving forces in terms of local protection of the environment. Citizens also organize big and punctual actions, like huge ‘clean the beaches’ days and hotels are encouraged to purchase installations recycling wasted waters.
Of course, numerous actions still have to be done, but a ‘green furrow’ has been ploughed in the province and the archipelago, and it continues its way… Numerous important orchards in this highly agricultural province have chosen for organic agriculture. The province Trad and the Koh Chang archipelago certainly deserve the visit of all those loving and respecting the nature and willing to back similar initiatives.

NS.TRAVEL has chosen the province Trad in the frame of the CSR MAP projects launched by the TEATA (Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association) to get under way the promotion of sustainable tourism in Thailand. The following program features numerous of the sustainable activities existing in the province Trad and the archipelago Koh Chang… This program is a real ‘green jewel’ accessible the whole year through to all, individuals, collectivities, schools, etc.
