Program

DAY 1: (Departure from your hotel in Bangkok at 07h00)

Meals: - / L / D

It is early morning that your guide and your A/C vehicle will pick you up at the lobby of your hotel in downtown Bangkok. You will leave Bangkok for 4 days, far from hassles, straight to the green, for an outstanding program in the jungle westwards Thailand’s capital, close to the border with Burma. Your first stop will be at the worldwide known floating market of Damnoen Saduak. You will have plenty of time to shot nice pictures of this Thai cultural icon before going to Kanchanaburi. There, you will discover the famous ‘Bridge over the River Kwai’ and will lunch in a local restaurant facing it. During the afternoon, you will push forward, closer and closer to Burma… You will also visit the ‘Center of the Railway Thai-Burma’, depicting what life of allied soldiers was when the railway was under construction. You will stop at one of the War Memorials where thousands of allied soldiers were buried. After these historical pages, you will reach your hotel by end of the afternoon… You will be mesmerized by the magic of this unique spot, nestled on the top of a cliff overlooking a twist of the River Kwai. Dinner will be served at the hotel - Overnight in a luxury tent at the ‘Hintok River Camp’.

DAY 2:

Meals: B / L / D

As sun rises, according to Thai tradition, you will follow (if you want) local people gathering at a Buddhist temple in the vicinity of the Hintok River Camp, to offer food alms to Buddhist mendicant monks. Back to the Hintok River Camp, you will have your breakfast served and will then go to the Erawan National Park, sheltering a succession of 7 waterfalls falling down from the one pond to the other pond, in which taking a refreshing bath is a MUST. Your picnic lunch will be prepared by Hintok and will be carried by your guide. By end of the afternoon, you will leave the park for an amazing activity in an elephant farm on the way… Once at the farm, you will familiarize with the animal waiting for you and you will lead it (bareback) from the farm straight down to the River Kwai Yai. You will give it its evening bath and will experience a lot of fun in this common ‘refreshing’ activity (of course escorted by professional mahouts). After this unforgettable moment, you will take a well deserved shower, change your clothes and enjoy a dinner on the spot, at sunset. At the end of the day, you will take the road to your hotel. This evening, you will overnight in the famous River Kwai Resotel.

DAY 3:

Meals: B / L / D

After breakfast, you will leave the hotel and go straight to a historic site ‘Hell Fire Pass’. This so called spot along the tracks was once a major element of the Death Railway. You will walk along the tracks and will clearly understand what this achievement was and how painful life of the prisoners was, forced to work in this inhospitable environment. After this impressive walk you will go to a local restaurant where your lunch will be served. During the afternoon, you will go to the Tigers’ Temple for another very unusual experience… In this outstanding Buddhist Temple, you will see tigers living under the mystical monitoring of Buddhist monks. You can even go down to the carrier where animals relax in the shadow, and will approach them. If you dare, you can even touch or hug them, the time of an unforgettable picture http://www.tigertemple.org/Eng/index.php … You will be back to the River Kwai and will overnight in the most outstanding place in the region, the placid and comfortable Float house, moored on the banks of the River. Dinner will be served at the hotel - Overnight in your superb Floating House.

DAY 4:

Meals: B / L / -

After your breakfast you will sail the river up by long tailed boat, till a village populated by a community of Môn ethnic, originally coming from Myanmar. You will surely appreciate the kindness of this community and will discover their habitat, uses and traditions. Afterwards, you will be served your lunch in a local restaurant and will carry on your way towards the little railway station named Namtok, where you will embark on the famous ‘Death Railway Train’ for an astonishing trip through the jungle. During about 40 minutes, you will travel on the old tracks snaking along the River Kwai in dense bamboo forests. After you step out, you will sit again in your A/C vehicle for the journey back to Bangkok. On the way back, you will make a last stop at the highest Chedi of Southern Asia in Nakhon Pathom. It is nothing less than 120 meters high. The city of Nakhon Pathom dates from the VI century at the time of the Kingdom called ‘Dvaravati’. After this last visit, your will continue straight to Bangkok and will be dropped off at your hotel by end afternoon or early evening.
