OVER VIEW

Mae Hong Son province is quite big, mostly covered by jungle and mountains while Mae Hong Son town (unlike most of provinces’ capitals in Thailand) is nothing else than a big village, like forgotten and out of time.
Mae Hong Son is remote and hardly accessible. It is possible to fly from Chiangmai directly twice a day, but once on a while because of mist or burning forest smoke, it occurs that flights are cancelled.

Nevertheless, a trip to Mae Hong Son by land is irreplaceable since it is the best way to appreciate the whole region and to enjoy superb mountains overviews that one would never admire by plane.

Across high mountains, through genuine ethnic villages, you will appreciate the real Thailand, the Thailand few tourist know, a real ‘off the beaten tracks paradise’, still preserved from mass tourism.
Such a trip is a real ‘MUST’ for it brings you in one of the purest places in Thailand, using the most beautiful roads in Northern territories.
 

DAY 1: (Departure everyday)
MEALS: Lunch box / Dinner
- 08:00: Pick-up by your guide and driver in your hotel located in Chiangmai (downtown only) and start your journey towards Mae Hong Son.

As from Sanpatong, the car takes the direction of ‘Doi Inthanon National Park’. You will cross partly this huge national park and will stop here and there along the road to watch some highlights.

- A lunchbox is foreseen so that you can eat it in Doi Inthanon.
- 15h00: (approximately) Arrival in Maejaem – Visit the Wat Pa Daet and discover the village.

 This halt will make a nice break in a genuine unknown Thai village. – After this stop in Maejaem you will continue the road up to mae Sariang.

- 18h00: (approximately) Arrival in Maesarian – Check-in in your hotel – Dinner – Overnight.

DAY 2
MEALS: Breakfast / Dinner
(drinks and lunch are not included)
You will start your day with a hearty breakfast in the hotel.
- 09:00: Departure by superb mountains road, straight to Mae Hong Son
- 11:00: (approximately) Arrival in Mae Hong Son – Check-in in your hotel -
- 12:00: Lunch in a local restaurant
- The whole afternoon, visit the little city of Mae Hong Son and its main temples. Go up hill to visit the beautiful temple towering over the whole city - Back to the resort for a smooth walk in the surroundings or relax at the swimming pool.
- 19:30: Dinner at resort (enjoy a bonfire and barbecue) – overnight

- 08:00: You will drive towards the pier where you will take a long tail boat to sail up a river till a village of ‘Padaung - Karin ethnic village’. You will visit the village and will meet locals. It is better to arrive early so that you can enjoy the tranquility of the place before other tourists arrive.

11:00: You will leave the village and sail back to the pier and will leave Mae Hong Son for Pai.

13:30: Lunch in local restaurant – Afternoon visit the impressive and huge cave Tam Lod – Huge caves with very high ceiling populated by colonies of bats – Coffins remains of vanished civilizations – Impressive stalagmites.

By end of the day you will arrive in Pai. You will have time for walk in the little village before continuing to the hotel
18:00: (approximately) Arrival at your hotel, check-in and dinner.

You will end your evening under the stars in your private hot spring water pool, for the hotel is located on the territory of a ‘Hot Spring Water National Park’ - Overnight
 

DAY 4
MEALS: Breakfast / Dinner
You will start your day with a hearty breakfast in the hotel.
- 08:30: Check out and departure by road to Chiangmai
- 12:00: (approximately) Visit an orchid farm on the way to Chiangmai. – Lunch in a local restaurant.
- 16:00: (approximately) Arrival in Chiangmai – Drop off in your hotel
- End of program.
