Half way between the ‘United Nations’ building and Bangkok ‘back-packers’ area, hotel ‘De Moc’ is one of the oldest hotels built in Bangkok. It even features the 2nd lift (still working) installed in Thailand. So those staying ‘De Moc’ may not expect modern facilities. Nevertheless, this hotel is fairly kept, well managed and carefully groomed. All installations are old, but clean.

The weird name ‘De Moc’ comes from democracy, since the hotel uses the name of the street it is settled in… PRAJATIPATAI means DEMOCRACY. The hotel features a lobby with Internet corner, a restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, a little massage room, a beer and pool lounge, with open air terrace and simple but convenient rooms.

All rooms feature: Air conditioning, private bathroom, satellite television, refrigerator, fully stocked mini bar and balcony. Superior rooms (on the upper floors) also feature coffee or tea maker. The whole building is strictly ‘non smoking’
‘De Moc’ is a serious outsider to the sometimes little quality guesthouses in ‘Khao San Road’ or ‘Buanglampu’ areas. For a bit more money, quality and comfort are far better.
