Venue: Ayutthaya
Duration: 2 Days – Joining-up Based

A totally new concept of tours inspired by the ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION DAY organized in 181 countries on 24 October 2009.

Scientists say that 350 parts per 1.000.000 of CO? in the atmosphere is the safe limit for humanity. In 2009 we reached 387 parts… Not only governments and polluting industries, but all citizens ought to be concerned by global warming.

If Tourism industry has contributed some countries across the world to develop their economy, it has also contributed to the global warming for all kind of transportation widely increased. Environmental and social nuisances have been unfortunately generated as welfare grew for some populations. NS.TRAVEL wants to play a humble and responsible role regarding global warming.

As ‘pioneer’ in Thai tourism industry, we once again want to be pioneer in a new way of operating tours. Besides the concern for our environment, we also have concern for local economy. We therefore add a human dimension to the environmental one. We give the preference to local little hotels, restaurants, providers or guides. We promote rather families or little companies who contribute in fixing manpower locally, preventing migrations to huge urban areas.

Our ‘350.org’ tours involve:
- As much as possible public transportation.
- As little as possible private transportation.
- As much as possible use of regional manpower
- As much as possible local hotels and restaurants belonging to locals

By doing so, we trend not to crate new emission of CO? (or as limited as possible). We contribute to fix locals in their regions by stimulating little regional economies.

The city of Ayuthaya was once famous in all South East Asia. It was (during its Golden Age) even courted by big Asian and European nations. Louis the XIV had resident ambassadors in Ayuthaya, whereas Siamese ambassadors were sent to Versailles. Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, and other nations had once permanent counters in the legendary Siamese kingdom.

Founded in the Fourteen Century by king U-Thong, Ayutthaya became one of the most important cities in all East. Under king Naresuan the Great, at the end of the Sixteen century, Ayutthaya controlled a huge territory far over Siamese borders, including even Northern kingdom of Lanna, part of Burma and Cambodia. Ayutthaya had become a kind of Eastern Tenochtitlan, proudly glistening from its superb temples and golden chedis.

The last attack coming from Burma at the end of the Eighteen century (some years before French Revolution) was the death knell for Ayutthaya. Its fall sounded as Doomsday for Siam. The capital was never rebuilt and after the sack, the Court moved down in search of a place to build a new capital. They finally settled down definitely in Bangkok.

The city of Ayutthaya was classified by UNESCO in 1991 as ‘World Heritage’. The summer royal residence of Bang Pa-In is worth to visit as well. It shelters some lavishly decorated pavilions in a very well groomed garden. Opposite banks of the river stands one of the most outstanding buildings of the country: A neo gothic style Buddhist monastery. Western tourists should not miss this place for it is really unusual.
